After my time of mourning for stanza had ended, I stumbled on this app. It lacks some of the importing features that stanza had but it has other methods and is comparable in the degree of customisation to stanza and am very happy with it so far. It makes the loss of stanza just a little more bearable……….

A treasure trove of the old classics, so many of which I missed growing up. I often start a book using audiobooks on a long drive, then, once hooked, finish with hard copy in MegaReader. Settings enables most key functions, including swiping to lower or raise back lighting, font and background adjustments. Do wish they had a means to obtain quick definition, highlight or make the occasional note, but am grateful for the wealth of free masterpieces. Thank you.

I love reading white on black in a room with a baby sleeping! Thanks for a great free app. Would like to see an option to skip to a certain page in title/author listings instead of 'See More' over and over and over…or the option to cross over from one letter to the next, e.g. If I want to see all titles by Stoppard, going back from T instead of through all pre- ST names…oh, that's a lot of names!

I finally updated the Megareader after using Stanza for a while. Megareader does everything that I need it to in the way or organizing a very large (>3,000 books) library so I can find books easily. At the individual book level, the app does everything I want and gives me a large number of options. I also had a question for the author and received very prompt and valuable replies, something that seems to be rare when trying to contact an app's author.

Прекрасная программа: – Русский язык – Хорошо работает на iPhone 5 – Читать на 5+ очень в хорошем смысле напоминает Станзу – даже яркость вертикальным движение меняется – Книги: мало того, что можно загрузить свои их iTunes, так еще можно репозитории руские подключить и проатные и бесплантные ! Я вообще .doc с рисунками конвертирую сам в Калибре и все оК ! – Цена свешная , приложение отличное – быстрота и стабильность на высоте. Спасибо.

I've been about the only one writing reviews for this app in Argentina, but I'm so strongly attached to this app, I keep writing. It's my most used app, and now I can't imagine life without it. If you have any interest in the classics, you can't go wrong. Besides the classics, recently I discovered E. Phillips Oppenheim. Now on the 20th novel. (Retired with a Ph.D in English and a fondness for Victoriana and the epoch of Oppenheim.) But there's something for everyone here in this well-crafted app. Go for it!

Ça fait très bien l'affaire pour lire. De loin le meilleur actuellement. Le moteur de rendu est même superieur a Stanza et plus agréable et propre, et ses options de réglage ont encore fait un gros bon en avant avec la dernière version! Ca serait vraiment bien que les updates soient un poil plus fréquentes, il manque encore un paquet de fonctions, surtout niveau navigation mais en l'état c'est tout a fait utilisable.

Le dévellopeur fait de gros efforts pour être à l'écoute de sa clientèle, on peut donner des idées et voter pour celles déjà émises sur son site, bien fichu. Tout ça va dans la bonne direction, on devrait finir par avoir une bonne app indé complète et joyeuse au bout du compte.

Glad to find a replacement for stanza. Picks up Calibre server for easy import of ebook files – also has links to other ebook sources. This is one of the few generic ereaders that can display landscape orientation as side-by-side pages.

I use this daily on my iPad. Lots of classic and hard to find choices. This is plain vanilla publishing. The big plus side for me is that you don't have to sync your books! Love the screen brightness feature. You can always pick up where you last left off by clicking the last place bar, but no other type of bookmarking is available. I keep a separate dictionary in the same folder since one is not integrated in the app, but I don't find this a huge drawback because I like to use Wordbook. Also the MR developer keeps updating and addressing problems. I rarely use Megareader on the iPhone, simply because I have an iPad, so can't comment on that reading experience.

Een goede reader die alles heeft wat er zou moeten zijn. Ik gebruik hem vooral icm Calibre en Dropbox, dus een eigen catalogus met boeken. Is daar heel goed voor. Gebruik ook stanza maar daar is de continuïteit niet van verzekerd. Mega reader minstens even goed.

With the added features of overlay dimming the text and removing the status bar I am happier with this app than I was with Stanza. This is the best reading app I've come across so far. The are more useful features than in IBooks, Kindle and Stanza put together. Customer service is excellent – my question has been answered immediately (on Sat. night!) The only thing that is missing is the option to rename imported .epub in the MegaReader. But they say that it is a popular request, so – there is hope!

A very pleasant experience. Clearly tries to replicate Stanza which broke but has recently been fixed. For me its much loved feature is the wireless transfer ability with Calibre sadly this only seems to work with epubs but it does work well. I hope the developer keeps up the work. Like a number of other reviewers I was a former Stanza user looking for an acceptable replacement. I feel I found it in this app. So far, the program has been very stable and I find the interface generally polished and professional. The creator seems very interested in listening to customer feedback and implementing requested modifications. Myself, the only thing I would like to see would be more and better sorting options in the library to better deal with large collections of books. Definitely recommended for anyone looking for a good ereader.

Ça fait très bien l'affaire pour lire. De loin le meilleur actuellement. Le moteur de rendu est même superieur a Stanza et plus agréable et propre, et ses options de réglage ont encore fait un gros bon en avant avec la dernière version! Ca serait vraiment bien que les updates soient un poil plus fréquentes, il manque encore un paquet de fonctions, surtout niveau navigation mais en l'état c'est tout a fait utilisable.

Par un simple copier-coller, permet de lire confortablement des textes qui seraient illisibles en réglant la taille des caractères (même s'il y a une limite, elle est assez large), les contrastes couleur texte/fond que l'on choisit totalement librement. L'iPad se transforme en liseuse de premier choix avec Mega reader et les déficients visuels n'ont pas été oubliés. Kindle et iBook pourraient en prendre de la graine pour améliorer l'accessibilité pour plusieurs lecteurs. Si seulement tous les livres étaient téléchargeables via cette appli !

Great app! I needed a replacement for Stanza, which was my favorite app of all time, and nothing came close. This one has all of my favorite features, and definitely has larger fonts. I want an app that will not force me to get secure DRM books, and limit me to only one source. I believe in choices! For some reason, a lot of the apps for ebooks seem to think that we all want the "ink" experience, so they have either the black on white paper, or white on black paper. Also several apps think that a "Huge" font is the equivalent of a 9 pt. font! The black and white combination is too much of a contrast, especially at night, which is when I do most of my reading. It also adds enough light to the room to be seen through closed eyes. This app gives you a large amount of color choices, and believe me, their huge font is HUGE! I can continue to read at night without disturbing my husband, and I don't have to worry about falling asleep with my glasses on! The only thing I really miss is being able to tell which books I'd completed. The only change that I would like to see is the capability to edit the book title and author name. My favorite author has lately been downloading as untitled and unknown. It was such a relief to find this app!

I found MegaReader when Stanza was killed off and I needed a new app to view ePub and other ebook formats. It's fast (I have over 500 books loaded) and I cant think of a single time it has crashed. My favorite feature: sliding a finger up or down controls system-level brightness. Awesome for reading in bed!

The sad, but not unexpected sunset of Sranza left a big gap. This developer has really stepped up to the plate, prioritizing and developing features that are bringing MegaReader into Stanza's class. The addition of managing loaded eBooks through iTunes is an example of the developer listening to feedback that has helped me use the app more effectively. Kudos to the developer for taking the opportunity and running with it.

I switched to MegaReader after Stanza died and I've never regretted my decision. It's great and with regular updates it just keeps getting better. The ability to group the books by author was a welcome addition. It never crashes. It works flawlessly with Calibre. I wish it had a page flip feature, but that is a minor inconvenience compared to all the other great features. This is the only reading app I use now. It's earned it's five stars from me.

This app links up well to a variety of libraries, and has lots of customization. I read white on black in the dark at night. I would appreciate indented paragraphs and page numbers. Occasionally, I'll open up the app and it will be behind a few pages from where I left off. I expect a minor bug fix will take care of that. I also wish I could organize my library better.

calibre integration rules. not as fancy as some others and needs ui polish, most annoying is page changing. wants to flip pages at any single tap. that causes me to often lose track of the page im on when accidentaly hitting a part of the ipad screen. eg getting to get coffee, closing cover, setting the device down etc. would prefer a swipe motion to chane pages to prevent that.

I'm very happy with Megareader, and the more it looks like Stanza the happier I am. The developer is very responsive, which is most refreshing. Now I can add material directly through iTunes, which plugged a big usefulness hole for me. Love it.

This app is great, I was using iBooks previously and this app is SO much quicker, and has more options for settings. Only thing to make it better would be bookmarks and a dictionary. The selection isnt the best but i just upload my own books and use this to read them. I love that u can change the color of the pages and the font. Def worth buying!!!

Print books are still my first choice and i buy a tin of those (at independents!) but I've downloaded a handful of old pulp fiction and lit classics that have saved me from dozens of idle hours at laundromats, on subways, and traveling. And at nights it's so much less disturbing to my husband. Excellent options for customizing screen color and contrast and intuitive navigation. Basic, no-frills workhorse. Im not looking for new bestsellers or indie gems, just PD classics so the free selection and no-cost, no-ad functions still amaze me.

It's tough to try to measure up to stanza, but keep adding features and I'll fall in love again. Doing right: more stable than stanza! More page color choices! Thanks for adding categorization by author! Doing wrong: don't know who uses speed test, but it seem a waste of a prominent menu button Missing: Show books already installed when browsing; When you implement hierarchical organization when browsing calibre, allow "download all" within a grouping; allow access to notes on downloaded books – you can see them in the download mode but not in the library mode.

I originally downloaded this app to replace Stanza and I am not disappointed. With the added features of overlay dimming the text and removing the status bar I am happier with this app than I was with Stanza. I've used this reader for about a month, and like it very, very much! It starts a little slow when it has to load a large library on an iPod 3, but once the books are loaded it works smoothly and quickly. There are lots of font sizes, including some big ones for those "with the over fifty eye thing". This thrilled me, especially since the large fonts work surprisingly well with the tiny iPod screen. I certainly haven't found all the reader's functions yet, but am very pleased to have this reader. The only thing that would be nice in an upgrade would be the ability to search for a word or phrase in an ebook, and then go to that word or phrase. This function doesn't seem to be available. Mind you, I'm tickled pink to be able to read my ebooks that don't have drm again. I've bought very many such ebooks over the years from indie publishers, and wasn't at all happy when stanza 'broke'. Thank you for this app!

I found this one when looking for a reader that offered me 2 simple things, but which all the big names lacked: – allowing me to adjust the margins. My iPad already has a black border, I don't want an extra large white one imposed on me. – allowing me to read in landscape mode, but with only one column. That's how I started using Goodreader and I haven't looked back since. It's stable, very easy to use and gives me a very enjoyable reading experience. Special mention for the Calibre server support, which is extremely handy! The only bug I've noticed so far is that sometimes a few words are missing at the bottom of a page. Turning the ipad, switching between landscape/portrait and back resolves it. It doesn't happen often, though.

This app does Everything I need it to do "and" loads my pre-existing books!! I have tried several including payed applications, deleted them all in favor of this. Great app! I needed a replacement for Stanza, which was my favorite app of all time, and nothing came close. This one has all of my favorite features, and definitely has larger fonts. I want an app that will not force me to get secure DRM books, and limit me to only one source. I believe in choices! For some reason, a lot of the apps for ebooks seem to think that we all want the "ink" experience, so they have either the black on white paper, or white on black paper. Also several apps think that a "Huge" font is the equivalent of a 9 pt. font! The black and white combination is too much of a contrast, especially at night, which is when I do most of my reading. It also adds enough light to the room to be seen through closed eyes. This app gives you a large amount of color choices, and believe me, their huge font is HUGE! I can continue to read at night without disturbing my husband, and I don't have to worry about falling asleep with my glasses on! The only change that I would like to see is the capability to edit the book title and author name. My favorite author has lately been downloading as untitled and unknown. It was such a relief to find this app!

Stanza was one of the first apps that I installed on my iPad and it framed my experience of reading apps. When I found out that it wouldn't work with iOS5, I was sorely tempted to downgrade back to iOS4 just for Stanza. Fortunately, I learnt of MegaReader's plans to become a Stanza replacement and now that they've installed the two features I considered the must-haves (configurable tap-zones and slide-to-dim) then I've installed this and am happily reading on my iPad once again. As a mathematician, I have to put a formula in everything that I write. So here's one for this review: MegaReader + Project Gutenberg = A great reading experience

This app is one of my favorite apps. Daily reading of the bible is easy, especially when i can pull up the scripture and write my own personal notes pertaining to that scripture. Your notes are easy to find due to titling them. Also, I can hi-lite the scripture in different colors that helps to group specific thoughts or can be used for highlighting quotations of Jesus and what others have said in the Bible. This app is updated on a regular basis such as updating bible translations and adding scripture in other languages. I would absolutely recommend this app to anyone desiring to go deeper into the word of God.

The sad, but not unexpected sunset of Sranza left a big gap. This developer has really stepped up to the plate, prioritizing and developing features that are bringing MegaReader into Stanza's class. The addition of managing loaded eBooks through iTunes is an example of the developer listening to feedback that has helped me use the app more effectively. Kudos to the developer for taking the opportunity and running with it.

Har nu ca 250 böcker i megareader. Efter senaste uppdateringen jan/feb 2012 ( funkar nu att föra över böcker via iTunes) toppen, '5 stars'!! –— Har bara hunnit att testa med ca 20 böcker, hade ca 250 böcker i Stanza. Pro: snygg och praktisk läs layout 'känns' än så länge stabil snabbt och lätt att direkt nedladda böcker från t ex Smashwords och andra siter för epubböcker när jag väl klurat ut hur man skulle göra så var det lätt att föra över böcker från Mac'en via Calibre till iPaden. Emaila över filer är för mig ingen bra lösning. Con: Saknar allra mest – går inte att föra över böcker via iTunes, går inte heller att flytta från iPad via iTunes till Mac!! går inte att sortera böcker i samlingar läser inte PDF Kan inte ladda ned egna bokomslag skulle också önska att appen kunde läsa DRM filer. Fixas möjligheten med filöverföring fram o tillbaka mellan iPad o Mac via iTunes så kommer ratingen att närma sig 5 stjärnor!

App stopped working after recent update–would start and display "Loading Books" and abort app almost immediately. Was able to get it to work as follows: Use iTunes to copy books to folder: Under Apps tab, scroll down to file sharing and select Megareader. Should see all your books on right side. Select all the books and "Copy to" option. Select a folder to copy the books to. Delete/reinstall Megareader on ios device and use iTunes to reload the books from the folder where they were saved to. Megareader should now function with all the old books present.

Since the death of Stanza and trying to find a worthy alternative, Megareader came out on top for me. While it still misses some features, the developer seems willingly to listen to his fans and apparently has taken Stanza as a model as best he could. Updates are regular and, given time, Megareader will probably become the new Stanza.

calibre integration rules. not as fancy as some others and needs ui polish, most annoying is page changing. wants to flip pages at any single tap. that causes me to often lose track of the page im on when accidentaly hitting a part of the ipad screen. eg getting to get coffee, closing cover, setting the device down etc. would prefer a swipe motion to chane pages to prevent that.

Because of my poor eyesight, I appreciate the many options for screen and font colors, as well as the style and size of font. I find the best for me is 12 pt Arial, navy blue screen and pale yellow font color. I use Calibre for my library management and since Mega reader connects with Calibre easily, my own books are always available.

I was on the verge of getting Kindle Fire because I couldn't seem to find a really good ereader app for my Itouch.. Actually I did find one (Stanza) that was highly rated but when I downloaded it I found it had fallen off the edge of the earth or something and was no more. Based on favorable user reviews i then downloaded Megareader. This is a great app. Easy to use, with nice features, and so many free books. Glad I didn't spend 199.00 for Kindle Fire. Instead for just 2 bucks I have what I consider to be a superb ereader app in Megareader.

A very pleasant experience. Clearly tries to replicate Stanza which broke but has recently been fixed. For me its much loved feature is the wireless transfer ability with Calibre sadly this only seems to work with epubs but it does work well. I hope the developer keeps up the work. I especially like assignable actions for 8 zones on the screen. Adjusting brightness with vertical swipe is also very cool, but it lags a little. One feature I miss is direct downloading of ePub files over Internet. But on the other hand megareader can open epubs from email attachments and, better still, from your dropbox which is awesome.

Neat app that works very well. It isn't quite as elegant, configurable or as fast as Stanza (which I use on my iOS5 iPhone) but it runs well on my older Touch. I do not like the library much – getting rid of the bookshelf 'skin' for a plain Stanza-like list would be great. Calibre synch works seamlessly but an iTunes download option would be useful. Stanza is effectively dead and this is the best alternative.

It's tough to try to measure up to stanza, but keep adding features and I'll fall in love again. Doing right: more stable than stanza! More page color choices! Doing wrong: don't know who uses speed test, but it is a waste of a prominent menu button Missing: book organization for large libraries stored on the device ( i carry around 1,000). Show books already installed when browsing; When you implement hierarchical organization when browsing calibre, allow "download all" within a grouping. Keep up the good work!

Es sehr erfreulich dass mit der letzten Version von megareader die beste App für epubs vorliegt. Als Stanza verwöhnter User war es bitter lernen zu müssen dass Stanza unter iOS 5 nicht läuft. Nachdem ich dann 3 Wochen lang alle möglichen Alternativen ausprobiert habe bin ich die letzten 2 Wochen mit Bluefire zurechtgekommen. Immer wieder aber war es schmerzvoll zu sehen wie dürftig Bedienbarkeit und einstellmöglichkeiten bei Bluefire sind. Mit Megareader habe ich nun einen guten Nachfolger der zudem von seinem Entwickler besser unterstützt wird als Stanza.

Needs more work on using the included formating of epubs, suspect css needs work, bold, centering and multiple font sizes seem to be missing. Wish list. Now that the catalog errors are fixed this is a 5 star app for me. I've been looking for a good replacement for my old friend Stanza, and this is it. With features that other readers seem to always lack or poorly implement, MegaReader 2 is now worth the price 10 times over. I loved Stanza, but the clunky desktop app made it a bit of a pain to actually load books. MegaReader fixes this with seamless integration with Calibre. The color schemes are nice, bringing back Stanza's easy swipe up/down for brightness, and allowing us to get rid of margins is wonderful. (The device already has nice margins, why do other apps force us to loose valuable screen space with a second sec of margins? – Harsh when using a small screen) The developer has been good about fixing the occasional bug and has paid attention to what us ex-stanza users wanted in a reader. I use this now as a reader on an Iphone4 and an older iPad. It works great on both. Dare I say it? Even better than Stanza!!!

This version is now an almost perfect replacement for Stanza and I feel does perform somewhat better than Stanza did. Kudos to the developer for taking on board user feedback so proactively (in app screen dimming!) – its great to see! My only niggle is that the list of books that are on the device is only one level deep so it can get a bit long and messy – hopefully this will be addressed going forward. I use this app for at least 3 hours daily and it has been superb so far – stable and responsive – well worth it!

This was actually used to replace Stanza, which I never thought would happen successfully. MegaReader behaves beautifully and has many of the features of Stanza. The only thing I miss about Stanza is that you could dim the text brightness and you can't with MegaReader. Obviously this didn't bother me enough to cause me to mark it less. I absolutely LOVE this app!!!!

Don't normally leave reviews but needed a replacement for stanza and this app has provided it. The last update has prompted me to give this 5 star review as a load of the features I liked from stanza have now been implemented here. Particularly the brightness adjuster so I can dim the screen as I'm reading in bed. Great work, prompt response to feedback and all round a brilliant, highly recommended app- thanks!

All of us that relied on Stanza were scrambling when we realized iOS5 meant its death. MegaReader IS going to the replacement. The author is responsive and working hard to add in the features we need and want. It is good now and the next version is adding important and useful goodies. It already supports importing books from Calibre using Content Server and it seems faster than Stanza. No other ebook reader will be able to beat MegaReader!

This just works for me. I only put one book at a time on my iPhone/iPad and this app works great with that. The best is that it seamlessly integrates with Calibre2OPDS so I can view a catalog of my OWN e-books. That alone makes this app worth it for me as I can download books right within it and then open my book in the app's reader. Yeah, I'd like more features, who wouldn't? However, right now this works for me. Thanks!

Stanza var igennem 1-2 år min foretrukne app til læsning af ebøger, men med iOS 5 holdt den op med at virke. MegaReader har meget af det Stanza gav gratis, men Stanza var lige 10% mere lækker. F.eks. når man bladrede var der en animeret side, noget som bare er øjeguf, men alligevel godt. Samtidigt kunne Stanza finde ud af at tilslutte en Calibre server, der skal MegaReader lige have lidt mere i URL adressen for at virke (det kan dog godt være at det er Calibre, der bare kunne finde ud af at det var en Stanza klient). Men det er stadig et rigtigt godt program, og kan sagtens hente bøger fra en lokal Calibre server. Double rainbow, all the way.

Very good so far; I just have a few requests: 1. The ability to bookmark a page so I can flip back and forth without losing my place. 2. The ability to group books by author or series in the library. The single long list isn't very helpful when looking for the next book in a series. 3. The ability to create my own folders for books in the library. For example, I don't want to delete the stock books which came with MegaReader, but there are quite a few and they clutter up the library. I'd like to create a "Classics" folder to put them in. 4. I really appreciate the ability to download via Calibre. Would it be possible to download multiple books at a time, for example an entire series of books or all books by an author, or whatever? That's be a great benefit for those of us re-building our ebook libraries during our migration from Stanza to MegaReader. Thanks for your willingness to update your app with our suggestions. Keep up the good work!

I'm longing for a few features (dimmable display) but I'm hopeful that Inkstone will be responsive and push out an update or two with enhanced capabilties.

Like a number of other reviewers I was a former Stanza user looking for an acceptable replacement. I feel I found it in this app. So far, the program has been very stable and I find the interface generally polished and professional. The creator seems very interested in listening to customer feedback and implementing requested modifications. Myself, the only thing I would like to see would be more and better sorting options in the library to better deal with large collections of books. Definitely recommended for anyone looking for a good ereader.

For those complaining about "no books after 1950" try Feedbooks and look at some of the Creative Commons offerings which are also available in bookstores as paperbacks and hard covers, and Science Fiction fans need to try the Barn Free Library. I mean the current ongoing 1632 series by Eric Flint and the Honor Harrington novels by David Weber were published after 1950 and are here for free and legally.

I saw a review that said, "DON'T waste your money on this, I bought it expecting books after 1950." Well, why would you assume that everyone is looking for the same thing as you first of all? And, there are books on here post-1950. Also, you are buying a very inexpensive app that gives you access to just about every free book that is out there to be found. Millions of free books for 1.99. That's such a great deal it's almost incomprehensible. I'm sure if you put just a tiny bit of time into looking through the extensive libraries this app connects you to, you would find something interesting before you knew it and you'd be reading away. Even 1 book found on here to read is still a deal for 1.99, and I guarantee that anyone can find a lot more than 1 book on here; one will find enough reading here to keep him or her intrigued for a long time.

Das ist in der Beschreibung ganz klar formuliert und kann/sollte vor dem Kauf gelesen und beachtet werden. Ich habe es gelesen, mich dafür entschieden – und bin sehr zufrieden. Die Vorauswahl an bereits mitgelieferten Büchern ist ok, wäre aber nicht nötig, die Anbindung an die Kataloge dagegen ist sehr gelungen. Toll! Auch die Auswahl an Möglichkeiten, das Aussehen und Verhalten des MegaReaders zu beeinflussen, ist gelungen. Angenehme und gleichzeitig völlig unaufdringliche App, wunderbar!

I've only had this app for a little while, but have enjoyed it immensely. I never get the chance to read. The MegaReader makes it easy to enjoy a chapter or two when I get a chance. I love that it keeps my place fir me too!

I absolutely love this app. It has pretty much any literary classic ever written! Anything from Shakespeare to Jane Austen to Mark Twain. As for me, I love reading the classics so this app is perfect for me. It's really easy to use and I never run out of books to read. Trust me, it is worth every single penny.

I got this app for the "coolness" feature of the heads-up display, to read while walking, but find I'm using it more and more. The ability to change contrast settings, for reading at night, or in brighter daylight, is wonderful! And just the easy access to the Baen Free Library is worth the cost of admission. Wut can I say? Surely there probably are reading apps which turns the page more elegantly (though not faster!) but it doesn't really matter when u can download from about six different great web pages (for example Project Gutenberg, the Internet Archive and pages for extremely rare literature, amongst others) thus making it millions of FREE downloads in different formats, and I doubt there's many literary works ever made that can't be downloaded with this app, so it's satisfying.

I use this app daily and prefer it to iBooks. Has the most public domain books compared to other apps. Still simple to use and easy to download books. A group of classics are already available when you install it so you can start reading immediately. Would like to see a page count of the whole book (right now it is just the current chapter). Also, an in-app dictionary function would be a fabulous addition.

Mega Reader is a great app as long as it works. I spend more time deleting the app and losing all my downloads than I do reading. I just about close my perfect library and the screen (iPad) blanks out. I close the app and reopen it and it just is stuck on the opening menu, the one showing quick read. No matter what it hit or touch nothing will open. So I delete and reinstall and start downloading again and crash. So beware, it is worth more than the two bucks if it worked right, too bad it doesn't. After reloading once again the app lived up to all it promised and I am most pleased with it, I have at least 100 books in mt library. Also their customer support was most quick and gracious, nice folks to deal with. Five stars!

Yes these are all public domain books or free books, but it would cost the same price or more for a single used copy of any book available. the convenience of having these books on my IPod is easily worth the price. Love the flexibility of this reader. Books are easy to download and read, and the total control of screen colors is a great feature. The only thing I would change is to add a web browsing function when adding new libraries, so you could hunt around a little if you don't know the exact URL. A Solid eBook App

First off, I have to say that this app has a lovely graphical user interface–this is the main reason why this app got my attention. I have not seen any cons with this app thus far, just pros. There are many free books to choose from and download directly from the app. As seen in the screenshot, there are already a few sources you can get free texts from, and there is also an ability to add other sources. Also, it is very customizable and suits the reader's needs, including the abilities to: change page and font to any color, change the font size, and read in portrait or landscape and lock the orientation. This app is easy to use, and as I have mentioned before, its has a lovely and sleek-looking interface. There are some slight bugs that I have found, but none too serious as to affect the whole purpose of the app. Some suggestions that I have would be to improve how to get text into pasteboards. For example, to make things easier, why not have the option to extract text from a specific url or a file in the application itself? Or how about using iTunes' File Sharing and make it so MegaReader is able to read certain files imported to it. Overall, for readers out there that are looking for a solid eBook application, you can't go wrong with this app!

Great e-reader! Useful features like remembering where you stopped, reading rate, chapter info, etc. There seems to be a bug when the view shifts back and forth between horiz and vert, it keeps going back one page with each switch. Fix this and the app would be flawless.

Its hard to find THE one word to describe the experience so I have used two: "Galactic Library." It's not really about the app, its about what the app unlocks. When I was first introduced to MegaReader it was admittedly overwhelming. Could it be possible that access to so many books was essentially FREE? We are now so used to the convenience of iBooks and Kindle, but we are conditioned to not think twice about paying for each downloaded book. In the past, you walked into your local library and got books for free. Well, MegaReader on one level is your old fashioned library in the palm of your hands. It allows you to gain access and download nearly 2 million books. The app makes it super easy to read the material and if you find you don't like something you downloaded, it hasn't cost you anything! MegaReader does something library's used to do, it allows us to browse, sample, and unlock our imaginations.

This is easily the most flexible reading app I've seen. I have vision problems because of my age and reading is hard for me now and Megareader gives me more control than any other reading app I've seen. Basically that means I can read longer with it. I was bothered by the ever-appearing pop-up and I contacted the author and he promised to make that less bothersome in the next update, which he did. For me, the best feature is it’s customizable interface for different reading lights. At home I read in soft ambient light so I appreciate that I can adjust the fonts and background colors to a soft contrast Vs. the commute environment of being out and about in sunlight where I adjust to a higher contrast like black and white. The number of books available is incredible and the customizable interface is a very nice touch. I like it!!

Very well done! This app makes it so convenient to download public domain books. We homeschool so reading is very importance to us and we spend a lot of time going to the library. With our iPad we are now able to download Black Beauty and other classic books for our 11 year old daughter anytime we want. She will be reading Black Beauty this year.

Very happy with MegaReader! Especially like how you can search by category, so you get exposed to a lot of books that you wouldn't normally think of reading. I'm amazed at how many free books are out there on the internet! Definitely value for money. (And you can lock the screen, very handy for reading on the couch.)

I can now read books on the go! This app has so many options that stanza does not have, such as many different color schemes, font type and size adjustment. It takes the whole reading experience to the next level. Finding the book you want to read is very easy.

I agree with the other reviewers in that this app provides access to and presentation of the continually expanding number of books in the common domain unmatched by other similar readers. The navigation is very easy and it contains some fun extras including a speed-reading test and the ability to tweet/facebook your current literary adventures right from the app. Thank you!

Tried this new app out because I wasn't totally sold on the existing free book apps out there. I'm glad I did. This app has tons, TONS of free books in it. I've tried the other free book apps and none of them have such an expansive collection. I like a lot of variety and the ability to discover new, talented authors. Mega Reader definitely seems to deliver the reading experience I'm after.
